To make a pop-up book, start by folding a sturdy piece of construction paper in half and cutting 2 parallel, horizontal slits in the center of the paper to create a tab. You can follow the same process to create as many pages as you want. Next, write your text on the bottom half of each folded sheet and create the background on the top half%(91).   “Make your own bible,” Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his Journals in This is not about making up your own religion. Emerson meant to encourage the readers to follow the Renaissance practice of compiling favorite quotes, poems, letters, and passages into a simple book to be used for reflection and inspiration.

Rohr starts the Book by declaring its' objective as being to address the misuse and abuse of the Bible. He goes on over 4 short, easy-to-read chapters to chart the development of interpretative methods, outline the key aspects of biblical criticism and then to discuss what the Bible is not saying and finally how Jesus himself used the Hebrew /5(6).   It takes about 10 hours total to read all four Gospels and the book of Acts. If you spend 20 minutes per day, you could read all 5 books in just 1 month. It takes about 15 hours to read all of the Prophets, from Isaiah to Malachi. Spend just 30 minutes a day reading the Prophets, and a month from now you will have finished all 17 prophetic.

Permissions vary from translation to translation. Make sure you look up their restrictions before using one in your book. For example the ESV allows for the use of 1, verses without permission as long as those verses are not a complete book of the Bible or the entire text of the book you are creating. But the NIV allows for only verses. There are many good devotional books that are based on a passage or book of the Bible. Reading one of these as you study a book will give you someone else’s opinion of the book. But don’t stop there. Form your own thoughts and ideas about the Bible. Allow the Bible to be a commentary on itself. Don’t get locked into only seeing the Bible.
